There was a bird. Slowly I approached the cage, and my appraoch caught the little creature's attention, it stared back at me warily out of the corner of his eye, small and black and glittering with the light of a little-bird soul. Never before had I seen a little-bird soul up close- the tiny creature stared at me, shifting nervously along his fake wooden branch, his tiny claws making clicking sounds back and forth.
